2026 College Football Coach Analysis

Head coaches are usually judged by wins, recruiting, and what happens on Saturdays. But while players often get most of the attention when it comes to looks, college football's head coaches deserve some recognition too.

To find out who stood out, RotoGrinders analyzed three images of every FBS head coach, totaling 414 images across 138 coaches, using facial landmark analysis to identify 468 facial landmarks per image.

How We Measured It

Each image was assessed against two sets of facial-proportion reference measures: neoclassical facial proportions and the Pallett-Link-Lee ratios.

  • Neoclassical facial proportions: four geometric measures covering face length-to-width, facial vertical thirds, eye width relative to the inter-eye gap, and nose-to-mouth relative to mouth-to-chin proportions.
  • Pallett-Link-Lee ratios: two published facial-proportion measures comparing eye-to-mouth distance with overall face length, and interpupillary distance with face width.

The six measurements were converted to relative 1 to 10 scores based on how closely each image matched the selected reference proportions. The three image-level scores were then averaged, and the final coach result is displayed on a 100-point scale for readability.

The Top Five Most Handsome College Football Coaches

With the methodology in place, here are the five coaches who came out on top in the 2026 ranking.

Manny Diaz, Duke Blue Devils

75.9/100 final score

Manny Diaz, who has led Duke to consecutive nine-win seasons and the program's first outright ACC championship since 1962, takes the top spot with a final score of 75.9/100. The Blue Devils extended Diaz through 2031 earlier this year, and he now adds an altogether different No. 1 ranking to his recent run in Durham.

Curt Cignetti, Indiana Hoosiers

71.6/100 final score

Indiana's Curt Cignetti lands second with a final score of 71.6/100. Cignetti has overseen one of college football's most dramatic turnarounds, leading the Hoosiers to the 2025 national championship and 27 wins across his first two seasons in Bloomington. His success on the field is now matched by a top-two finish in our facial-proportion ranking.

Dabo Swinney, Clemson Tigers

70.8/100 final score

Clemson's Dabo Swinney takes third with a final score of 70.8/100. Entering his 19th season in charge, Swinney is Clemson's all-time winningest coach, the winningest coach in ACC history and one of the most decorated names in the sport, with two national championships to his name. He is also one of only three coaches in this study to score above 70.0/100.

Tavita Pritchard, Stanford Cardinal

69.9/100 final score

Stanford's Tavita Pritchard ranks fourth at 69.9/100, narrowly missing the 70.0/100 mark. A Stanford graduate who returned to become the program's 37th head coach in late 2025, Pritchard arrived back on The Farm after three seasons coaching quarterbacks for the Washington Commanders, where he worked with Jayden Daniels during his standout rookie season.

Gerad Parker, Troy Trojans

69.7/100 final score

Closing out the top five is Troy's Gerad Parker at 69.7/100. Parker led the Trojans to a four-win improvement in 2025 and a place in the Sun Belt Championship Game, extending a coaching résumé that also includes offensive roles at Notre Dame, West Virginia, Penn State and Duke. He finishes just 0.02 points behind Pritchard in the ranking.

Other Coaches Who Made the Top 10

Just outside the top five, Western Kentucky Hilltoppers coach Tyson Helton (69.4/100) ranks sixth, followed by Willie Fritz (68.6/100) of Houston Cougars. Ohio State's Ryan Day (68.1/100), LSU's Lane Kiffin (67.1/100) and Florida's Jon Sumrall (66.0/100) round out the top 10.

Several of college football's most recognizable coaches are spread throughout the ranking. Oregon's Dan Lanning and Notre Dame's Marcus Freeman both place just outside the top 10, while Mario Cristobal and Mike Elko both land inside the top 75. Farther down, Lincoln Riley, Deion Sanders, Kalen DeBoer, Steve Sarkisian, Kirby Smart and Bill Belichick round out a broader list of notable names.

Methodology

RotoGrinders analyzed three images of every FBS head coach using facial landmark analysis. MediaPipe Face Mesh was used to identify 468 facial landmarks per image, which provided the geometric points needed to calculate six facial-proportion measurements.

  • Coaches ranked: 138 FBS head coaches
  • Images analyzed: 414 total, with three images per coach
  • Facial landmarks: 468 landmarks identified per image using MediaPipe Face Mesh
  • Neoclassical facial proportions: face length-to-width, facial vertical thirds, eye width relative to the inter-eye gap, and nose-to-mouth relative to mouth-to-chin proportions
  • Pallett-Link-Lee ratios: eye-to-mouth distance relative to overall face length, and interpupillary distance relative to face width
  • Scoring: each of the six measurements was converted to a relative 1–10 score based on closeness to the selected reference proportion within the dataset
  • Image-level score: the neoclassical and Pallett-Link-Lee component scores were combined to produce a final score for each image
  • Final coach score: the three image-level scores were averaged and converted to a 100-point display scale, then coaches were ranked from highest to lowest
Attractiveness is subjective and can vary across people and cultures. This ranking reflects similarity to a selected set of facial proportions in the images analyzed and should not be interpreted as an objective or universal measure of attractiveness.
